Badlands
The badlands are not a single specific biome within Isla’s biosphere, rather a collection of environments which all share similar climatic and geographical features. These regions are generally located north of 10° latitude, and experience heavy arid conditions. Extreme heat is common in the badlands, and precipitation is scarce. Rare monsoons are responsible for the vast majority of the rainfall to these environments, and though they are few and far between, they provide enough water to sustain life of all kinds. Species of the badlands are specially evolved to retain moisture, as well as to withstand extreme heat and light exposure.
